Simian Mobile Disco is coming to Portland.

I can’t tell you how excited I am that SMD is coming to Portland.  They will be playing at the Wonder Ballroom just after Thanksgiving on November 28, 2009.  Peaches will be playing the night before, but if you are forced to choose between the two, I would recommend Simian Mobile Disco.  This morning I’ve been listening to, and really enjoying, a couple tracks from their new album Temporary Pleasure.  Some of the reviews I’ve read say this album isn’t as good Attack Decay Sustain Release.  I think the verdict is still out.  I admit, it would be difficult to beat ADSR without an epic showing.  And I am not sure this new album is an epic showing.  However, the cred SMD garnered from their debut album allowed them to get some sweet guests for vocals on the sophomore effort.  Among others, Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip sings on Bad Blood, and Beth Ditto of Gossip guests on Cruel Intentions.  These songs are not as hard-hitting as, for example, Hustler.  But they still have a unique, creative, and catchy sound.  In any event, these guys put on an amazing live show.  I wouldn’t miss it.  Here are the two tracks mentioned above, and, as a bonus, my favorite track from Peaches album.
