My One Life Stand with Hot Chip made me Feel Better
On Feb. 1, 2010, Hot Chip will drop their fourth studio album, One Life Stand. After the success and brilliance of Made in the Dark in early 2008, I have been really excited about this next effort. For those of you not familiar with Hot Chip, they are a UK electropop band signed to the DFA record label. The currently five-member group has had some degree of turnover with band members, although vocalist Alexis Taylor and musician extraordinaire Joe Goddard, who started the band in 2000, have been the heart of the band and constants throughout.
Earlier this year, vocalist Alexis Taylor did guest vocals on the track Bad Blood, perhaps the best song on Simian Mobile Disco’s most recent album. I love that song-in large part because of the way it exemplifies how even the most hard-hitting electronic music can be emotional with the right vocals. Taylor’s vocals are just so pretty. You’ll hear what I mean.
Please kindly preview these two beautiful songs from One Life Stand. Then pre-order the album or buy it on

Sadly, Hot Chip currently plans to hit only four U.S. cities on its upcoming tour. Portland is not one of them. But for anyone in NYC, DC, Chicago, or San Francisco-keep your eyes peeled for venues and tickets.
